Darryl S. Hester wins at the Youth Achievement Awards

OUJÉ-BOUGOUMOU, June 26, 2010 - The results are in and the news is good!  The announcement came at the evening of the Youth Achievement Awards gala held at the Forestel Hotel in Val d'Or on June 23, 2010.

The Youth Achievement Award Gala was featured as part of the Cree Nation Youth Council's Cree Youth Symposium, as part of its "Inspire Hope Campaign". The purpose of the symposium was to gather over 200 young Crees from all communities of Eeyou Istchee to discuss issues and to inspire them to take action for a brighter future.

Darryl S. Hester takes home an award in the "Arts & Music Category".   Darryl S. Hester is a talent Producer/Songwriter/Singer/Musician from the Community of Waskaganish located in Eeyou Istchee.  So far, he has successfully released 4 compilation albums (1994, 2001, 2005, 2009), which he has produced, recorded and mixed 2 of the recent albums in Eeyou Istchee titled Broken & Rain.  He has also been recently selected as a recipient at the 2009 Canadian Aboriginal Music Award Winner in the Music Industry Award Category.  Please check out his website at www.wcymp.ca
