About
| I am a mix of Cree/Abenaki/French Canadian, but having grown up in Whapmagoostui and Montreal, I have always found my strongest identity and purpose with my Cree heritage, followed closely by my Abenaki ancestry.
My upbringing always lead me back to my people. I have followed in the footsteps of my father to a certain extent in leadership, until the day I realized that the voice of the Youth would best be represented in music, rather than politics. After having hosted Maamuitaau with the CBC, I decided to take the ristk and pursue music in my best capacity and represent my People with my work. This has been my most successful endeavor. As a member of the premiere Cree rock band CerAmony, I have traveled many places with the mission to represent the Cree people. Our music has opened the eyes of many non-native people to the philosophies and beauty that is the Cree culture. On our journey, we have also instilled pride in the Cree nation and other nations with our work. CerAmony was recently awarded the Best Songwriting Award at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards. It was certainly an honor to be recognized for the immense work we put into the detail of our music and lyrics for our debut album entitled "CerAmony." The album was self-produced, recorded in Odanak in our own studio, mixed at Studio 451 in Montreal, and mastered in Toronto. It has been quite a journey, but the album represents our strength, belief and perseverance. We are proud to be CerAmony, and certainly proud to be Cree. Agooda.
